Physical installation and mounting¶
Overview¶
Installation guide for mounting and connecting your SenArch ARCH-1 LoRaWAN Gateway. This covers the complete physical installation process from mounting hardware to powering up the system.
Prerequisites¶
Required tools (not included):
- Phillips screwdriver
- M6 Allen key
- Size 10, 13, and 17 combination wrenches or adjustable wrench set
Mounting options¶
Choose your preferred mounting method:
- Pole mounting (standard, recommended)
- Tripod mounting (optional accessory)
- Wall mounting (optional, requires expansion bolts)
Battery cabinet installation¶
- Position the battery cabinet against the mounting plate
- Align the cabinet holes with the mounting plate holes
- Insert M6/M8 bolts and fasten with self-locking nuts
- Fix the entire plate to the pole using U-bolts and brackets
The cabinet must remain stable when pushed sideways.

Solar panel installation¶
- Mount the solar panel frame on the pole at a 90° angle
- Maintain at least 5 cm clearance from any obstacles
- Orient the panel south (Northern Hemisphere) or north (Southern Hemisphere)
- Attach the solar panel to the frame using supplied brackets, screws, washers, and nuts
- Tighten all bolts firmly and confirm the panel cannot move vertically
Solar panel cables must point downwards to prevent water ingress.
Antenna installation¶
- Screw the lightning arrester tightly onto each antenna base
- Mount each antenna onto its bracket and secure with bolts and washers
- Fix the bracket to the pole using U-bolts
- Connect the N-type coaxial cable firmly to the arrester
- Wrap the arrester with vulcanizing tape for weather protection
Antennas must be vertical and not touching metal structures.

Gateway enclosure installation¶
- Remove the battery slip inside the gateway enclosure to connect the auxiliary cohost battery.
- Attach the mounting brackets to the enclosure with provided screws, washers, and nuts
- Mount the enclosure behind the solar panel to protect from direct sunlight
- Fix the brackets to the pole with U-bolts and tighten securely
- Connect the grounding wire: M4 to arrester, M6 to pole/ground
The enclosure must sit upright without tilt or wobble.
Important: Please ensure that the battery slip has been removed from the co-host battery inside the gateway enclosure. This is required for resilient system health monitoring.

Cable connections¶
Connect cables in this order:
- LoRa antenna cable
- LTE antenna cable
- Solar panel cable
Do not connect the battery power yet.
System power-up¶
- Place the battery inside the battery cabinet
- Connect red cable to + and black cable to –, then cover both terminals with caps
- Plug the battery cable into the gateway enclosure
The system powers up automatically. Never reverse polarity as incorrect wiring may damage the system.
Alternative mounting methods¶
Tripod mounting¶
Follow the same installation sequence: Battery → Solar panel → Antennas → Enclosure.
- Place the tripod on a stable surface
- Secure to ground using bolts (pavement) or pegs (soil)
Wall mounting¶
- Use expansion bolts: M6 for antennas, M8 for enclosure and panel frame
- Measure and drill holes according to User Manual diagrams
- Mount the solar panel on its frame before attaching to wall
For limited space, mount a short pole (≤48 mm) on the wall and attach antennas with U-bolts.
Next steps¶
- Connect to the gateway to begin initial configuration
- Verify all network connections and gateway functionality
- Monitor gateway performance through your LoRaWAN network server and co-host telemetry
